NEW Home Ownership Opportunity

Why rent when you can own for less than $1,000 per month?

We are looking for a few good families to partner with Habitat Suffolk and the Town of Islip in a joint program , through the federally-funded Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).  Several houses in the Central Islip/Brentwood area will be rehabilitated for families approved for the partnership.   How would you answer these questions?

  • Do you have the following documented income? Income guidelines are determined by family size and are adjusted each year based on numbers provided by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Habitat partner families typically fall into the following income ranges (call  for income guidelines for other family sizes)

                3 person household:  $43,000-$86,000

                5 person household:  $46,440-$92,900

                6 person household:  $49,880-$99,750

Household income may include permanent employment wages and/or supplimental income (i.e. SSI,SSD, child support, etc.) provided that it is long-term, consistently recieved, and can be officially documented.

Note: These numbers are estimates and actual amounts may vary depending on the jurisdiction in which the home is located. Habitat Suffolk reserves the right to change these guidelines at any time.

• Are you willing to take on a mortgage with very reasonable terms?

• Is your current living situation inadequate for your family?

• Will you commit to helping build your house and other houses every Saturday for about a year?

• Will you perform community service?

•Are you willing to attend classes which teach you about homeownership?

IF YOU BELIEVE YOU QUALIFY, OR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT FAMILY SERVICES AT beth@habitatsuffolk.org or christine@habitatsuffolk.org or call (631)-924-4966 x101 or x114.
