Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk is an independently operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Our mission is to work in partnership with thousands of Suffolk County volunteers and responsible, low income families of all races, religions, and creeds to build and renovate homes so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.
Since 1988, Habitat Suffolk has empowered hundreds of families to achieve their dreams of homeownership through our affordable home ownership program. Habitat Suffolk’s goal is to build an average of 10-12 houses annually, building for as long as needed to make sure every family in Suffolk County has a simple, decent and affordable place to live and call home. Although we only build within Suffolk County, Long Island, there are 53 Habitat affiliates in New York State alone; to find an affiliate near you, click here. We can’t stop saying thank you to all of you who contribute your time, talents, prayers, and resources to make it all happen.

About Charity Navigator
rates charities by evaluating two broad areas of financial health -
organizational efficiency and organizational capacity. Using a set of
financial ratios or performance categories to rate each of these two
areas, Charity Navigator issues an overall rating that combines the
charity's performance in both areas. Charity Navigator ratings show
givers how efficiently they believe a charity will use its support
today, and to what extent the charity is growing its programs and
services over time.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) was founded in 1976 by Linda and Millard Fuller. HFHI is an ecumenical Christian partnership of concerned people working together on principles of fellowship, charity, and a firm belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live. Habitat affiliates around the world invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
In 1987 under the guidance of a forward-thinking Board of Directors and in alliance with the supportive community, Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk formed by pulling together its scarce resources to build its first home for a single mother in Riverhead. Originally working out of a garage in Rocky Point before moving into a church office, the Habitat Suffolk founders began developing relationships with municipalities, corporations, churches, schools, private groups, and individuals to form the organization as it is known today.
Habitat Suffolk Gives Back
Habitat Suffolk gives a portion of our donations to Habitat International's Tithing Program, which encourages Habitat affiliates to donate a tenth of what they raise in support of building homes in developing countries. Through this tithing program, Habitat Suffolk is able to help build homes in the Domican Republic, in addition to the homes we build in Suffolk County.
