Christina A little over a decade ago, Christina was struggling to keep her head above water. After divorcing an abusive husband, she found herself a single mother raising five children, and she reluctantly relied on public assistance to make ends meet. Despite a period of homelessness, her family persevered. After securing a job in 1999 at a local university, where she is still currently employed, Christina applied for Habitat Homeownership in 2004. She was accepted into the program and completed her sweat equity requirements, including participation in the entire process of building her home. In September 2006, she and her children moved into their new home. When asked about the house, Christina will always smile and say, “I love my house.” She continues to instill deep-rooted values in her children, focusing always on faith, family, education, and hard work |
