HOW WE BUILD Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk builds on parcels of land that have been donated to us by Suffolk County and local townships. The materials to build our simple, decent homes are funded by the generous contributions of our donors. From the foundation up, the home is built by volunteer labor and can take anywhere from 4 - 10 months to complete. Once selected, our homeowners work alongside the volunteers to build their own house as well as the houses of the other homeowners in the program. Once finished, the house is dedicated and the family moves in. They will receive a 20-30 year mortgage at 0% interest. For more information about volunteering, please click here
