What is HYP ?                                                                                         

WORK HARD. PLAY HARD. GIVE BACK.

We unite young adults living and working on Long Island who support Habitat for Humanity; to actively advance it's work and mission through increasing volunteerism, spreading awareness, and raising funds; to provide members the opportunity to interact and network with other volunteers, staff, and affiliate leadership; and to accomplish this through the creative and social resources of it's members, empowering the next generation of Habitat Suffolk leadership.Please email hypsuffolk@gmail.com to learn how to get involved.

  • March 2012 Bowl-a-Thon

Join us for the HYP Bowl-A-Thon on March 3rd at Port Jeff Bowl. Tickets are only $20 for an awesome night of bowling, pizza, soda and drink specials! Complete the next two steps to purchase your ticket and register for this event.

Look for in our January Newsletter:
The HYP will be kicking off our NEW advocacy agenda for 2012, we will be including in our newsletter easy initiatives for everyone to begin advocating for affordable housing both locally and nationally!

The leadership committee has begun planning our first mission trip for Spring 2012.  We will be heading to Louisiana to help rebuild homes in areas still affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Ike.  We'll keep you updated on our plans and available spots for anyone who would like to join us on this trip, or future trips.

HYP offers networking with other young adults across Long Island, leadership opportunities within HYP leading to leadership opportunities within the community and with HFH Suffolk, and a unique involvement with Habitat for Humanity through a three-pronged approach to Habitat's mission.  Each month we have a board meeting for members interested in leadership positions, a social event, a volunteer event, and other miscellaneous events.  Anyone can become a supporter of HYP by adding your name to our mailing list by contacting Volunteer@habitatsuffolk.org, by doing this you'll recieve updates and notifications about events.  As a member you will recieve priority when signing up for build days, discounted events, and private members only events.  Volunteer opportunities through HYP range from build days to working in the ReStore, to volunteering with other community organizations.
