OFFICE HELP

We are frequently looking for volunteers to help us in our office location in Middle Island. If you are available between the hours of 9AM – 4PM and would like to help us with mailings, computer work or our upcoming fundraising events please contact 631 924 4966 Ext 104 or email volunteer@habitatsuffolk.org

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk which is located in Middle Island, NY is seeking the following Full Time Volunteer opportunities:

Family Services
A National Direct member assists and supports partner families with the homeowner application process.  A  National Direct member serving in family services may act as a liaison to the family selection committee; plan and facilitate monthly meetings with families, the family selection committee and construction staff; create a sweat-equity schedule; or help with event planning for groundbreaking and dedication events.

Community and Faith Relations
A community and faith relations member works directly with various community faith-based organizations in recruiting volunteers, building resources and developing partnerships.  They may conduct presentations, create and distribute a newsletter and other informational materials, or act as a liaison between affiliate and community and faith-based organizations.
 
Required Skills
Requirements to serve:

• Age 18 or older
• A U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency -- or agree to work towards one while serving.
• Must have a valid driver's license (only required at some sites)

Habitat AmeriCorps National Direct members commit to 10 ½ months of service and receive a minimal living allowance.

We are anticipating the opportunities to begin September 2009

Benefits include: Living Allowance, Health Benefits, In-Service Training Opportunities, Post-service $4,725 Education Award and Childcare! Positions begin in September and require a 10 and half month commitment.  The Living Allowance amount is $11,400/year gross.
