Youth and Students
Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk encourages youth of all ages to get involved in the Long Island community! Each year, young Long Islanders help us with fundraising, building, office work, and hospitality for volunteers and homeowners.
Since 1991 students from over 80 Long Island High Schools and Colleges have been raising funds and consciousness concerning the need for decent affordable housing. Students have raised the funds for the building materials and have built over 20 houses in Suffolk County communities. In the Fall of each year, all campuses that wish to take part in the Student Build will make a pledge of how much they plan to raise, and work throughout the year fundraising to meet that goal. In the Spring of each year, the students will get to come out and help to build the home they’ve raised funds for.
